Designing the GCTU Staff Directory: My Process and What Inspired the System

When I started working on the GCTU Staff Directory, I wasn't just trying to build another directory website. I wanted to solve a real problem faced by many universities: academic information exists, but it's scattered, inconsistent, or difficult for the public to navigate.
Inspiration
The idea came from studying how universities manage academic profiles. I wanted to design something that centralizes all academic information, gives staff full control over their professional profiles, and presents the university's academic community in a clean, reputable way.
Design Process
The architecture was built on PHP and MySQL. For the interface, I leaned into a blue and gold palette, inspired by classic university branding. I built modules for research project tracking, publication archives, conference participation records, and departmental organization.
Reflection
Designing the GCTU Staff Directory was a deep dive into understanding academic workflows, institutional organization, and the importance of digital credibility.
